Protecting Your Patio From The Wind

In many cases a nice breeze is a benefit to sitting outside. It cools, it relaxes, and if you have quality wind chimes it adds melody to your relaxation. However, if the wind is too strong, it can put a damper on your peaceful patio time.

You know that strong breeze that blows napkins, cups, and sometimes even plates accross the yard. You can have the prettiest teak patio furniture there is, only to have the wind pick everything else up and blow it away. So what do you do about it?

Staying inside is not an option. Don't think for a second that a privacy fence will protect you from the wind. In actuality, a straight up and down fence will only increase the winds strength. So what is the best thing you can do to block the wind? filter it.

Thats it, filter the wind. Think about ways you can break up the wind in your backyard. Lattice fences, trees, and other ways to make the wind disperse. Atleast in your back yard.

Enjoy your time outside, even if you are in a windy ally…

Deep Seating Patio Furniture Coming Soon

We are all getting very anxious for winter to pass by and spring to come greet us. While this still may seem far off for many of us, it is a very exciting time for us at MyPerfectPatio.com. Granted, we are still a couple weeks away from the Super Bowl, so officially it is still very much winter. The exciting part is that this is the season we get to see the new styles and designs for everything from basic patio furniture to extravegant outdoor furnishings.

One style that made a splash last year and we are excited to bring it back is the deep seating patio furniture style. There is a great article on the comforts of deep seating that a friend of ours wrote. These chairs and outdoor sofas are great. You get the comfort of indoor seating with the benefit of enjoying time outside with your friends, family, or sometimes a little solitary quiet times.

One patio item that lasts all year round is one of our favorites, mother natures favorite musical instrument wind chimes. Ours has been chiming all winter, even on the coldest of days it reminds us that soon we will back in our yards, firing up that BBQ, and having our friends nearby. In the meantime, enjoy the NFL playoffs and the second half of winter.

Patio Life is Easier

I bet you never thought of all the ways your patio can make your life easier.  While your in-laws might frown at paper plates in the kitchen, they might expect them on the patio.  (But don’t think you’re off the hook.  They’ll probably still find something to complain about.  After all, they’re in-laws.  It’s their job.) Somehow, dinner outside can be more informal and relaxed than the same dinner served inside.  And foods usually taste better when cooked on a grill, anyway.

Cooking outside means you don’t have five courses going in and coming out of the oven, all at different temperatures, for different lengths of time.  You have one grill, and you can manage the temperature and cook a main course and several sides at the same time, all by placing the items in different places on the grill.  And foil is your friend! By sealing all side dishes in disposable aluminum packets before cooking, you eliminate even more dishwashing.  Cleaning consists of removing the foil and disposing of it.  Can’t get much easier than that.

Less time in front of the oven and the sink translates into more time to relax on your modern outdoor furniture with your family and guests.  And after a long day, who wouldn’t want that?
